The sprawling nature of the school buildings and the presence of asbestos based materials have made these premises ideal for the use of a radio fire alarm system. A new system was initially installed by proving to be more cost effective than a wired system.
The system was installed over a two week period during school holidays and caused no disruption to the school fabric or staff. Within twelve months the school had a major extension built and it was simple to incorporate the additional devices onto the existing fire alarm system.
Schools can be susceptible to malicious alarms and the radio system has radio paging incorporated to enable staff to respond quickly to the source of an alarm, which can act as a deterent to those causing the alarm.
