Her Majesty's Court Service

Replacement Fire Alarm System.
Installed: February 2009.

The initial tender inquiry was received by our office from a clients appointed consultant.

The site is a circa 1960's building and presented a familiar problem where the presence of asbestos gave the renewal of the fire alarm system plenty of Health & Safety issues.

The project was presented at a very late stage of the clients financial year and SSSystems were asked provide a cost effective solution within budget and on a restricted timescale.

It was immediately recognised by all that a Wire free Radio fire alarm system would provide a solution and give the client a modern facility that encompassed all considerations including an immediate asbestos problem.
The new Radio Fire Alarm utilised the standard cause & effect software allowing full control integration of all the sites mechanical and electrical systems.

Given the nature and daily use of this site the system employed the timed delay option before full global evacuation, allowing the site security to verify the need for a building clearance and minimise unnecessary down time, especially if the Courts are in session.

During preventative maintenance visits and weekly testing, the isolate key facility enables all plant and integrated systems to be by-passed without their shutdown.
This feature saves time and the lengthy procedure to reset integrated systems.
All field devices fitted on asbestos surfaces were fixed using suitable adhesive and enabled an effective rapid installation rate. In normal hardwired scenarios the asbestos would present considerable additional labour and further cost issues involving appropriate asbestos sub-contractors.

We worked closely with the manufacturer and the agent to produce an end result as per requisite and to the full satisfaction of Her Majesty's Court Service.

This system option proved effective in job timescale, minimal disruption to the building daily operations and fabric disturbance regarding all health & safety issues.
